A small village in the Italian Dolomites, not far from the Austrian border, the resort of Sappada is very popular with families. Children are particularly spoilt here, as the resort is home to Nevelandia, a snow theme park. Sappada Resort
A ski resort in Italy's Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, Sappada offers an authentic holiday in the heart of the Dolomites. Perched at an altitude of 1217 metres, Sappada is a family-friendly ski resort. This small village is made up of a multitude of charming hamlets where you can find a picturesque rental at the foot of the slopes. Not far from the Austrian border, Sappada offers a unique atmosphere where Tyrolean and Italian mountain cultures mingle. You'll hear Italian as well as the local dialect of Germanic origin. Its human-sized ski area means that young and old alike can enjoy the pleasures of the slopes before returning to the peace and quiet of the village. Skiing in Sappada
While all skiers will appreciate the diversity of the Sappada ski area, children will be particularly spoilt for choice. In terms of "conventional" skiing, this ski resort offers 22 kilometres of pistes: 9 kilometres of blue, 10 kilometres of red and 3 kilometres of black. Once you've collected your ski hire, you'll be able to consolidate your technique on the slopes and take on new challenges. Children will be particularly interested in Nevelandia, a huge fun zone at the heart of the ski area. Inflatable structures, slides, toboggan runs, ice skating and many other activities are offered by Sappy, the park's mascot, and his teams. Sappada is also part of the Dolomiti NordicSki ski area, a network of 1,000 kilometres of pistes prepared for both alternating and skating. From the resort, you can easily access around twenty kilometres.
Activities in Sappada
Sappada is a family resort with a strong focus on sport and nature. While downhill and Nordic skiing are the main activities, you can try your hand at many other disciplines. Snowmobiling for thrill-seekers, Nordic walking for a contemplative stroll, ski touring for a powdery outing and even ice climbing are all on offer.
