Kappl Resort

ski resort Kappl

Kappl is relatively unknown as a ski resort, but it is the largest community in the Paznaun ski area in the Austrian Tyrol in terms of population. With the Silvretta mountain range between the Verwall and Samnaung groups, Kappl is the ideal holiday destination for winter sports fans. This lively resort offers pristine slopes away from the ski slopes and breathtaking panoramic views, as well as a tourist office, plenty of accommodation of all kinds such as guesthouses, hotels and holiday flats, shops, a wide choice of restaurants and inns and plenty of activities for young and old.

With 5 blue runs, 8 red runs and 4 black runs, the Kappl ski area offers ideal skiing conditions for beginners, experienced skiers and professionals alike. But it's not just downhill skiing that's on offer here. Snowboarders and freeriders can have fun in the Funpark. What's more, five signposted ski itineraries lead those looking for a little more adventure down pistes that are certainly signposted and safe, but are not prepared. Beginners will certainly be delighted to find a ski school, snowboard school, carving and freestyle courses here to prepare them to hit the slopes. There are numerous ski lift and cable car facilities, as well as a ski bus. These means of transport, combined with the ski pass, enable skiers to get to the ski resort of their choice. The main ski area, located in the Verwallgruppe, Samnaungruppe and Silvretta massifs, ranges in altitude from around 1258 to 2700 metres and boasts 42 kilometres of pistes. Thanks to the snow-covered slopes, the 17 runs offer guaranteed skiing fun from every station. Of course, you can also hire ski and snowboard equipment in the Kappl ski area by hiring skis from one of our Skimium shops.

Activities in Kappl

activities Kappl

After a busy day on the slopes, it's time to relax and take your mind off things. A visit to one of the local spas or thermal baths is a great way to relax and do your muscles good before heading back to the slopes, refreshed and rested. Of course, après-ski is an essential part of any ski holiday. Typical Tyrolean dishes and culinary specialities in traditional mountain huts and romantic mountain restaurants are an integral part of the Kappl ski region, and Tyrolean innkeepers love to spoil their guests with their regional specialities. But the restaurants and pizzerias in Kappl itself invite you to sample regional Austrian specialities as well as delicious recipes from all over the world. The famous and tasty Austrian pastries can be enjoyed in one of the cafés. A mountain hike on a non-skiing day is not to be sniffed at either. These winter hikes can be undertaken with experienced guides or, if you already have a lot of experience in this area, in complete peace and quiet. In Kappl, there is even a night snowshoe hike every Tuesday. Tip: you can also hire the right snowshoes for the hike from one of our Skimium shops.
