Skiing in Saalbach
The Saalbach ski area has blue, red and black ski runs for beginners, intermediate skiers and professionals. The "Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn" ski area is very popular and well-known. There are numerous ski lifts and cable cars to take skiers to the ski resort of their choice. With a ski pass, this becomes an enjoyable experience. The Saalbach ski region is located in the Glemm valley in the Alps. With altitudes ranging from around 1,003 metres to 2,096 metres, and more than 156 slopes, every resort is guaranteed to offer skiing fun thanks to its abundant snow cover. Downhill skiing, carving, freeriding and snowboarding are just as possible as cross-country skiing on one of the marked cross-country ski runs. For beginners, the Saalbach ski schools offer courses to prepare beginners and novices to hit the slopes safely. The floodlit trail is also a great idea. The long run of the Unterschwarzachbahn invites you to enjoy skiing in a slightly different way on the floodlit route. It's not just the floodlights that create a special skiing atmosphere in the dark. When the moon is full, the planet provides a romantic light for night skiing. And on the SkiMovie slope in the Nightpark, you can make your own ski video. Of course, the Saalbach ski area also offers the chance to hire ski and snowboard equipment from one of our Skimium shops.
Activities in Saalbach
One of the most beautiful ways to discover the winter landscape other than skiing is undoubtedly winter hiking. Romantic under the winter sun or, if it doesn't show, under the snow, which is no less romantic. There are around 140 kilometres of winter hiking trails in and around Saalbach. Whether you take a guided hike with an experienced guide or go it alone is up to you. Either way, a magnificent view is guaranteed. You could also enjoy an après-ski drink in one of the bars or refuges. And if the weather doesn't allow you to go out, there are plenty of opportunities for indoor activities. A little culture, for example, wouldn't go amiss. The Heritage House - the ski museum in Saalbach - is well worth a visit. The Felsentherme in Bad Gastein offers relaxation and tranquillity. The thermal baths were built directly into the rock in 1968 as Austria's first public thermal baths and are renowned as an architectural feat. At an altitude of more than 1,100 metres, the thermal baths offer the chance to warm up and regenerate tired muscles while enjoying a magnificent panoramic view of the Hohe Tauern.
