The Head brand was created in Baltimore in 1950 by an aeronautical engineer, Howard Head. For three years, he sought a way to lighten skis initially made of wood. He wanted to fulfill the need for speed of enthusiasts of this sport. His goal was to popularize skiing by revolutionizing the equipment, using technologies and materials from aeronautics. Aluminum made it possible for skis to benefit from greater strength and better maneuverability in turns.

To the delight of amateur skiers, the brand has also won many international competitions, from the Olympic Games to the World Cup. It has been represented by champions such as Bode Miller, Lindsey Vonn, Ted Ligety, Aksel Lund Svindal, Alexis Pinturault, and Mathieu Faivre.

The company is now based in Austria, and for seven decades, Head has continued to innovate by developing new devices and products. The brand remains committed to ensuring the safety and performance of snow sports enthusiasts, both professionals and amateurs alike.
